The Ministry of Energy, its Department and associated Statutory Bodies held a Korban Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha for the year 1441 Hijrah / 2020 Masihi. Co-organized by the Ministry’s Strategic Planning Unit, and Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), the event was held at the East Wing Conference Hall, Prime Minister’s Office Building Complex. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, the Acting Minister of Energy.
Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy), Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power), officers and staff from the Ministry of Energy, the Department of Electrical Services, Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and takbir led by Yang Mulia Awang Morni bin Haji Nayan, Mosque Affairs Officer at Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Mosque. It was later followed by the distribution of the Korban meat to 20 recipients comprising of the Ministry’s staff, its Department and Statutory Bodies as well as Asnaf residing within the vicinity of Mukim Berakas. The remaining korban meat were also delivered to the houses of 65 other Asnaf.
A total of 3 buffaloes were contributed and sacrificed for the event. The event was held in adherence with the guidelines set by Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
