Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam (PA) hosted the Upstream Energy Transition Workshop featuring speaker from the United Kingdom which took place at Dewan Seri Kerna, SEAMEO-VOCTECH, Gadong on the 20th June 2023.
Present to deliver the welcome remarks was Yang Mulia Mohammad Nizam bin Haji Ismi, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, Department of Energy (DoE) of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as the Guest of Honor. He highlighted on the long-standing bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom which has continuously foster growth and prosperity in various areas including Energy Sector.
The workshop began with an overview of the Brunei Energy sector by representative from DoE. The presentation highlights the energy value chain for both Upstream and Downstream oil and gas sectors, oil and gas emissions and energy transition projects.
The main highlight of the workshop was on “UK Experience and Lessons on Sustainable Energy Transition” by Ms. Alison Flower, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Senior Energy Advisor, International Energy Unit of Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), United Kingdom.
A total of 40 participants attended the workshop. This workshop session serves as a platform to gain and exchange knowledge as well as best practices from both nations to further explore potential avenues for sustainable energy development in Brunei in ensuring a prosperous future.
