This year’s Energy Week was aimed to raise awareness on the Energy Sector’s resilience in the wake of the ever-changing global energy market, with energy security and energy transition being its central focus. Energy Security is characterized by the need for a safe, reliable and uninterrupted supply of energy to drive economies, businesses and societies towards sustainability while Energy Transition addresses the country’s commitment towards a more sustainable and cleaner energy industry. The country’s energy transformation takes into consideration the transition towards a low carbon energy system to safeguard the nation’s environmental heritage. In line with the theme, the exhibition provides an exclusive access to the latest initiatives including local employment opportunities and sustainable development efforts in the energy sector. Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam also participated in the exhibition alongside with the Department of Energy, Department of Electrical Services, Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), educational institutions, and leading oil and gas operators.
The Energy Week also brings together experts from the energy sector and academia in an in-depth strategic discussion on energy matters. A Symposium had taken place on 16 June 2022, featuring panel discussions on a wide range of energy topics. It aimed to provide a platform to discuss the future challenges of oil and gas industry in Brunei Darussalam, insights to energy transition and sharing of Bruneian leaders’ career journey in the oil and gas businesses. An Energy Seminar had taken place on 17 June 2022 with the main objective to foster discussions amongst participants that covered a wide range of topics and case studies, such as subsurface, safety, asset integrity, green energy and enabling technology to unlock upstream opportunities.
